Foreign Investors

Can a foreign investor buy a home in Konya?

Answer

Yes. The legal basis is Article 35 of the Land Registry Law (No. 2644). Since 2012, classic reciprocity is no longer required. Citizens of countries designated by the President may acquire real estate — including homes, commercial units, plots and farmland — within the statutory limits. German citizens are on this list.

Limits: 30 hectares per person nationwide; 10% of the privately owned land in the district; and the ban on military forbidden zones and military security zones. For a typical apartment or villa the hectare limit is irrelevant. A residence permit is not required to buy.

İnterkon Realty Group does not open a file on the basis that “foreigners can buy”, but by asking whether this specific block and parcel is open to foreigners. The country list, district quota and zone status are checked in the land registry system.
