Is the language barrier a problem at the land registry?

Answer

It can be. Never sign a document you do not understand. A sworn interpreter, the original Turkish title deed text and an independent lawyer are the standard trio. In practice an interpreter is present for a party who does not speak Turkish.

A buyer used to the French notaire's duty to explain is surprised to find that in Turkey not everyone plays the same role. The estate agent manages the sale; the land registry officer registers it; legal interpretation is the lawyer's job.
